Main remodeling theme: expanding rooms, new enlarged openings and
extended balconies Scanning (x-ray) existing structure including
footings was required to determine existing structural condition.
Main structural design goal:
Reinforce existing structure to be able to carry new superimposed
loading system
A highly customized structural steel was designed complemented in
some cases with reinforced concrete.
New areas with mix of concrete tilt up wall system and steel frames
Bar joist systems for floor and roof.
During construction time, a routine structural inspection was agreed
(once a week) to monitor all structural work development.
HOLIDAY INN – Blytheville Arkansas –
Remodeling built on 2010
Very involving structural remodeling project – Existing two (2)

167 Rooms, Meeting Rooms, Administration Office and Public Areas
Existing CMU wall system and concrete slab floor and roof.
Main remodeling theme: expanding rooms, new enlarged openings,
additional balconies and expanded corridors.
New 3rd Floor: Lightweight metal frame system with main steel
frames.

HOLIDAY INN SUNSPREE RESORT – Lake Buena Vista – Remodeling built on
2009
and 2010
Very involving structural remodeling project – Six (6) story
building
Total of 238,000 sq ft
477 Rooms, Meeting Rooms, Administration Office and Public Areas
Existing CMU wall system and concrete slab floors and roof.
Main remodeling theme: expanding rooms, new enlarged openings,
additional balconies and expanded corridors.
Main structural design goal:
Reinforce existing structure to be able to carry new superimposed
loading system
A highly customized structural steel was designed complemented in
some cases with reinforced concrete.
An extensive and comprehensive inspections and testing of the
structure was carried out during the preliminary stage of this
project in which serious structural failures were found.
Those findings showed a total lack of capacity or resistance for
wind load forces being necessary to recalculate this building to
bring it up to current Florida Building Code.
The entire structure was reinforced with an additional and parallel
structure, as described before, to compensate those areas with
calculation deficiencies.
In this specific case, it was also necessary to reinforce some
existing foundations in some critical design areas.
Silvestre Engineering was also in charge of the engineering field
supervision during construction time.
* CHOCOLAND FACTORY *
Total area: 66,000 square feet
This is a new project and construction is expected to begin soon.
This building is located in an area close to Disney and is basically
a chocolate
factory with a tourist park on the second floor.
This is a very high three-story building: approximately 20 feet per
floor.
The architectural design is basically a chocolate box with a
semi-opened and sloped roof framing system.
* OFFICE BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN ORLANDO *
Total area: 42,000 square feet
This is a three-story remodeling project. The original building was
built approximately 90 years ago and was remodeled and updated at
least 2 or 3 times over the years.
The additional challenge was to keep the original style, details and
design because it is a building located in a place considered
historic heritage.
To reinforce the structure, it was necessary to use a combination of
structures made of concrete, metal and wood.
Silvestre Engineering was in charge of the engineering field
supervision during construction time.
* ORLANDO DOWNTOWN ENTERTAINMENT *
Total area: 49,500 square feet
This is a project in which a new addition merged with the remodeling
of another area.
A very detailed shoring technique was developed because it had an
adjacent four-story 70-year old building.
The structural design was achieved with a combination with concrete,
steel, and natural and pre-engineered timber wood.
Silvestre Engineering was in charge of the engineering field
supervision during construction time.
* HOLIDAY INN SUNSPREE RESORT *
Total area: 264,000 square feet
Existing 6-story building for complete remodeling. The overall
schedule was set in three phases being the first of them completed
by now.
An extensive and comprehensive inspections and testing of the
structure was carried out during the preliminary stage of this
project in which serious structural failures were found.
Those finding showed a total lack of capacity or resistance for wind
loads forces being necessary to recalculate this building to bring
it up to current Florida Building Code.
The entire structure was reinforced with an additional and parallel
structure with a steel framing system capable of compensate those
calculation deficiencies.
In this specific case, it was also necessary to reinforce the
foundations in some critical design areas.
Silvestre Engineering was in charge of the engineering field
supervision during construction time.
* MISSION HOPE CHURCH *
Total area: 51,700 square feet
This is a project in which a new section is combined with the
remodeling of another.
The structural design was achieved with a combination of concrete,
steel, and natural and pre-engineered wood.
The top ceiling design was achieved with Timber Trusses, which is a
lattice structure of brushed wood with metal plates, as it is an
exposed structure.
* PIZZA HUT
EAST OF ORLANDO *
Total area: 24,200 square feet
This is a two-story remodeling project.
A concrete and steel structure was combined.
* SHOPPING PLAZA SUBWAY / TROPICAL SMOOTHIE
*
Total area: 35,200 square feet
Complete 2-story remodeling project.
The existing structure was scanned to determine the necessary
reinforcements that were made with a combination of concrete and
steel framing structures.
Silvestre Engineering was in charge of the engineering field
supervision during construction time.
* ALTAMONTE SPRING SURGICAL CENTER *
Total area: 30,800 square feet
New 2-story project based on concrete blocks, cast in place concrete
and steel framing decks plus columns and beams.
* LAKE MARY OFFICES AND WAREHOUSE *
